Letrozole

I have been put on Letrozole. I am 77 and had a lumpectomy for stage 1 grade 2 ER positive HER 2 negative with no lymph node involvement and had 5 sessions of radiotherapy. Does taking this drug mean I am at a high risk of it coming back or as a safety measure thank you

  • Hi Wisteria 77 and thank you for your post.

I am sorry to read that you are undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

I cannot determine your risk level; this is best explained by your specialist doctor or nurse.

Letrozole is the standard treatment for women with oestrogen-positive breast cancer. Some breast cancers use oestrogen in the body to help them grow. Letrozole works by blocking oestrogen, which starves any new tumours from developing.
