Breast cancer

Hey. I am 31 years old female. I have noticed and feel a pea sized lump on my left breast towards my armpit area which i discovered 5-6 months ago. I also had milky discharge a few months back and occasionally get it still. I had breastfed my son but i have now stopped for the past 9-10 months. i have been to my gp twice. first i was seen by a trainee doctor who felt no lump or bump. second time i was saw by a different doctor who felt the lump and also said to come back if i felt any difference in my health or breast. I’ve been trying to get an appointment booked in asap to be seen again as i’m really worried something isn’t right. My left breast hurts in the area where the lump is when i press onto it. I have noticed my nipples dry and flaky at times to. I have a shooting pain in both my breast frequently to. recently i have been getting a numb arm from my shoulders all the way down to my fingers a numbness and sometimes a shooting pain to. i have also noticed my skin is bumpy and crippled looking under my breast and always assumed its from breastfeeding. I have two young children age 7 & 2 so im really worried. I have also been getting random migraines and fatigue to which i did explain to the doctor previously to.

  • Hi there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about the symptoms you have and the worry they are causing you.

I'm afraid no one here can say what the problem may be and you need to persist in getting another appointment with your GP to discuss.

They can reassess you and refer you on for more tests if necessary.

Do bear in mind symptoms can be the result of many different things and in most cases will be something less serious than cancer. Breast lumps can be caused by many things including cysts, fibroadenoma's which are a build up of fatty tissue or if more towards the armpit area could well be an enlarged lymph node. Like wise breast pain is common and often linked to hormone changes, rather than breast cancer. Breast Cancer Now has some information about benign ( non cancer) breast conditions that may be useful to read.

I hope you are able to get an appointment soon.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
