Breast pain

Hi,I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my right breast 8 years ago,& have been cancer free for 71/2 years. I have been experiencing pain in the same breast for a few months now & it’s gradually ge ting worse. Have you any thoughts on what this could be please? Especially as it’s been so long since surgery. Thank you in advance ️

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

In the first instances I would make an appointment with your GP for a breast examination and see whether they have any thoughts as to what could be causing the pain eight years down the line.

Breast Cancer Now have some tips on help to manage this pain which you might find helpful. There can be any number of reasons why this may be happening. Whilst you are waiting for your appointment do try taking regular pain killers such as paracetamol and wear a supportive bra. It could be some nerve damage from the surgery and maybe a referral to the physio with some exercises may help manage this pain.

I do hope that you know more soon.

If you would like to ring and chat this through with one of the helpline nurses then you are welcome to give us a call.
