Perineum Lump

Hi,

I am going to start this by saying I am a massive hypochondriac and constantly anxious about getting cancer.

But for the last 4 weeks I have had a lump/swelling on one side of my perineum. It almost goes into my thigh. No pain or discomfort. I do have haemorrhoids and fissures. Also possible IBD. 
I also feel a warming and pulling sensation in the same side thigh.

I went to the GP twice the second time told it’s just normal tissue. But the lump is still there. I’ve decided to go private. But I am worrying myself sick over what it could be. I can’t think of any other reasons than cancer.

Not sure what to do anymore.

    I am sorry that you are feeling .anxious about your health. We can't diagnose anyone on the forum. I am sure that if the GP felt that there were any worrying features they would have organised further investigations so try if you can not to over think it all.

    Hopefully when you see a private doctor they will also be able to offer you some reassurance. Do find out how much it is all going to cost before you go down that route.

    You may find it helpful to look at this NHS charity called Every Mind Matters. It can help to get tips on how to manage anxiety.

    You may find it helpful to discuss your health anxiety with your GP. They may be able to organise some counselling or you could try and organise some counselling yourself.

    If your symptoms continue or get worse then do go back to your GP.
