Grade 3- help me please

Hi, so after 2 other posts on here it has been confirmed that I have breast cancer that is grade 3, it’s very small (?). I received my letter today confirming what my specialist told me last Thursday at my appointment. After reading the letter I discovered it was grade 3 which I didn’t pick up on at my appointment, I went on the cancer research website to see what the grading means, am a right that this is aggressive and spreads quickly if so how aggressive, at present they have said it hasn’t spread to my lymph nodes( confirmed by ultra sound, I’ve had an MRI as I have dense breasts ( what are they looking for!!! The mri staff asked ( after the MRI) if I had a family history which I do and asked if I had found anything suspicious which I did ( a small lump) but nothing elsewhich I have now read into this that this is not a good sign, due to my health anxiety now every itch, twinge or ache is the cancer spreading, why have I not had my surgery date yet ( I know they are waiting for their Her2 protein test to come back but why can I not have it removed while they wait. It started out at my mammogram at 1cm now they are saying it is 1.5cm does that mean in 2 weeks it’s grown .5 of a cm and the longer this goes on the more likely that in another 2 weeks it could have spread to the lymph nodes, I was calm and ready to fight before today now I feel like I have a time bomb in my boob and can no longer look at it or touch it, I want to rip my boobs off as I can’t stand the thought of it growing In me. Please help any information which you can provide will be appreciated

  • Hello Jobieejo and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about the stressful time that you are having. I can understand that times like this it can seem very overwhelming.

There has been so much research that has gone in to treating patients with breast cancer and so many different tests are now done on breast tissue to make sure that each patient has the best treatment for their type of breast cancer. Before they decide the most appropriate treatment the doctors need to get the results back of all the different tests as it may influence the type of treatment that they give you.

If you have a breast care nurse it is important that you go through all your concerns with them. They have access to all your different tests and work closely with the medical team. Do let them know how difficult you are finding it all.

They should be able to give you and idea of timings and what your next steps will be.

You may find this link on our website about coping with a cancer diagnosis helpful.

Try and take one day at a time.

If you would like to talk any of this through with one of the helpline nurses then you are welcome to give us a ring.

Our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine
