Hi Gywn 55 and thank you for your post.
I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with a low grade appendiceal mucin neoplasm
I’m sorry I do not recognise what the PP4a abbreviation stands for. I have heard of pt4. Are you able to speak to your GP or hospital specialist for more clarification.
I hope you find the help and information you need.
Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Kind regards
Tina
I am presuming the PP stands for the PMP and 4 is stage of the cancer
Hi there again
You really do need to speak with your own doctor about this so they can explain what this means to you and what needs to happen next. Do take a look at the information link Tina referred you to get a better understanding about this type of cancer and how it can be treated.
All the best
Naomi
Thanks I just need to u sweat and the jargon what does PT4A mean pls
Hello and thanks for your further post
As nurses, we don't usually interpret medical reports or advise on cancer staging as this is not our area of expertise.
But a PT4A low grade appendiceal tumour usually refers to how far the tumour has spread. It means that it has moved beyond the appendix and into the lining of the peritoneum. It is called low grade because it usually grows and develops slowly.
As my colleagues have said, you really do need to speak with your own doctor about this so they can clarify this for you and explain what needs to happen next.
Best wishes,
Celene
