Radiotherapy Treatment - General question

During active monitoring one side of the prostate was now discovered to be aggressive and one side less so. The choice of treatment of radiotherapy was chosen for various reasons.

Given that radiotherapy is a once for all treatment. Will the radiotherapy be used on both sides of the prostate (aggressive and non-aggressive)?

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

This is a question that is probably best answered by the oncologist looking after you. I would have thought if you have cancer in both lobes that even if one side was less aggressive then they would still probably treat both sides. Once radiotherapy is given to the prostate it is not usually given again.
