Stage 4 lung cancer

My mum has stage 4 lung cancer. She had 5 sessions of radiotherapy in November and she has been feeling well. Recently though her wheezing has got really bad, her next oncology appointment is end of Feb should I wait or do you think I should speak to her nurse as I am sure they can make her more comfortable. My mom doesn’t think it’s anything to worry about and happy to wait to see her oncologist in 4 weeks

  • Hi Jen_Jo and thank you for posting,

I am sorry to read about your mum's situation this must be very difficult.

If you are concerned and have noticed a change in your mum, and if you can speak with the nurse on her behalf, it is worth letting them know about the increase in wheezing. They may want to assess her and, as you say, they may be able to give her something to help ease this and help her feel more comfortable with her breathing.

I hope this can get sorted for your mum soon. If you would like to speak with one of our nurses on the helpline, we are available between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday and the freephone number to call is 0808 800 4040,

    Kind regards,

    Jemma
