Hi Mishmash
I am sorry to read that you are worried about your daughter’s positive FIT test.
Try not to read too much into how high the reading is, this does not mean it is cancer nor does it necessarily mean that your daughter is at a higher risk of getting cancer. Finding blood means that further tests are needed such as a colonoscopy so the doctor can take a closer look at the bowel to find the cause of the bleeding.
Most people referred to the hospital with a positive FIT test will not have cancer. There are many reasons for a positive FIT test such as crohn’s disease, polyps, endometriosis or inflammatory bowel disease.
It is rare for a 19 year to develop cancer especially bowel cancer .
I really hope you know more soon and that everything will be okay for you.
