Mariner coil

I see a consultant today as u have suspected breast cancer. I told him I have a mariner coil, he said I have to find out if it contains Eastrogen I have to have it removed, can anyone tell me if it contains eastrogen or not

  • Hi there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear you are undergoing tests for breast cancer and hope you know more soon.

For now I think you need to sit tight and wait and see what the results come back as and go from there. It is my understanding that mirena coil releases the hormone progesterone rather than oestrogen but this can also drive some types of breast cancer.

As I say you need to speak with your own doctor to discuss what is best for you moving forward and whether the mirena coil definitely needs removing straight away.

    Wishing you all the best

    Naomi
