Hello and thanks for posting
I'm sorry to read about your situation.
T stands for tumour and a T4 tumour means that the cancer is larger and has spread into nearby surrounding tissues.
A stage 4 cancer are cancers that have spread to other parts of the body, such as the lungs or liver. This is called metastatic or secondary cancer. But it is more common for cancers affecting the head and neck to usually spread in the area where it started.
You may find it helpful to discuss this further with your specialist team who can clarify things for you more as they have all your medical details. If you have a specialist nurse (CNS) involved in your care then perhaps they can provide you with further information. You often have to call and leave them a message and they will get back to you.
Give us a ring if you would like to talk things over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Best wishes,
Celene
