Post Menopausal Bleeding

Hi

I have experience Post Menopausal bleeding for the first time, saw doctor on Tuesday and I've got an appointment with Gynaecology on Monday.  Having now googled I have gone into full panic mode, I have been experiencing hip pain and back pain but just put that down to weight and poor fitness.  I am on HRT would this be the cause?  Can anyone tell me what to expect at my Gynae appointment on Monday.

  • Hi..I had a big bleed suddenly last January and I do sympathise as I was so worried too. They will probably book you for further investigation and measure how thick your endometrial lining is. It might be a polyp that has caused the bleed...that's what they first thought for me so was then booked for it to be taken out and they took a biopsy around it to check for cancer. Hope it all goes well for you. X

  • Morning, Hope your okay.

I attended A@E yesterday.As I had bleeding after 2 years of no bleeding . They told me that they will refer me to a gynaecologist for further investigations. Had a lot of stomach pains for ages which was put down to my gallblader which Im on a waiting list to have taken out. im equally concerned  because Im worried time is ticking as iv had abdominal  pain for  ages. My symptoms are very same as yours .

  • I’m on the waiting list for gallbladder removal I had my pre op assessment this morning.  They won’t give me a date till they know the outcome of my gynae appointment at 3.30 today.  I’ll update later when I know more.

  • this is where I’m at as well. I’m due to have my gallbladder out in the next month or so. I had my preassessment back in December so I’m sure this is going to throw the spare in the works now. I wish you well today and get on okay?

  • Hi there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about the symptoms you have and appreciate what a worrying time this can be.

Until you have seen the gynaecologist and had some tests done no one can say what this is being caused by but there are other reasons than just cancer.

Easier said than done but try not to over think the situation until you have all the facts. At your appointment the gynaecologist is likely to ask you some questions about your general health and symptoms. They may also examine you and then decide what other test they wish to do, this usually involves a vaginal or abdominal ultrasound to inspect the female organs and some blood tests. Depending on the results and what is or isn't seen you may need further investigations after that.

I hope this is helpful but do get back if you have further questions or give one of us nurses a call on 0808 800 400 on weekdays if you prefer.

    All the best

    Naomi

  • Just got back from appointment, 10 mins going through history then a 5-10 min scan.  Results so far are that my uterus looks normal and so do both my ovaries,

I have what looks like one fibroid and 8mm thicken of my womb.  I've being booked in for a hysteroscopy under local.

Wait time for appointment approx 2 weeks.  It is assumed the fibroid is causing the bleed.

I have also been asked to take two utrogestan tablets instead of one for now and continue with my Oestrogel.

  • Hi, did you have a lot of bleeding and for how long? i am in same situation heading to hospital today for biopsy.

  • Started of as spotting, turned into a light period.

  • started 21st still ongoing

  • I cant focus at all and when i read everyones in the same situation..i had thickened lining 5 years ago and iud was put in .. it helped .. but was on estradot patches for about 8 months..came off rhem due to high blood pressure.. hopefully that hasnt caused anything
