Lichen Scle

I have been diagnosed with Lichen Sclerosus since 2018

I am 60 in April.

I have flare ups, paper type cuts etc, which I treat with Dermovate.

On the 15 January I booked a doctor's appointment as I was bleeding on my labia minor. I checked it using a mirror and a a very large area of the labia was black. I thought maybe a burst blood vessel. It is is over an inch long.

The doctor checked and said to be on the safe side he would book me into see a dermatologist.

I found out by using the NHS app that it was booked as a routine appointment. I rang the dermatology dept for advice and they said the waiting list at present is 39 weeks. I said I believe the doctor should have fast tracked it. She advised me to contact doctor to request referral be changed to fast track.

I just would like to know if you agree it should be fast tracked please.

  • Hi there Rachaelm and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about your situation and appreciate what a worrying time this must be for you.

Unfortunately no one here can give a medical opinion and it is only your GP who can say whether this warrants an urgent referral to dermatology so do speak with them. If they think it does they can fast track your referral so you can be seen swiftly.

I hope you know more soon and that everything turns out okay for you.

Do get back if you have further questions or call us on 0808 800 4040, week days 9-5 if you prefer to speak on the phone.

    All the best

    Naomi
