Small hard lump

I had cervical cancer last year had treatment chemo radiation and brachytherapy,Got NED last September,I have found a small hard pea sized lump in my abdomen top left of my navel , I have been feeling nauseous and pain lower right into groin area , that’s a constant pain it’s not a bad pain just can feel it , I have also still been having trouble with my bladder pain in my bladder needing to wee a lot , and a strange thing the tips of my fingers very painful especially under my nails when I wee ,lots of strange symptoms I know , I don’t know if connected ,if I need to see GP about anything of them ,nothing is too bad the worst pain is my bladder and finger tips ,I had radiation cystitis while I was having radiation and it’s carried on ,So I think the wee issue and bladder pain is that ,don’t understand the right groin and fingertips ,I Do also have some damage to my feet from the chemo nerve pains ,But it didn’t go into my fingers ,so I don’t understand why I’m having pain in my fingers when I wee ,sorry it’s all a bit mixed up and confusing,

  • Hello Calamity-Jane.  The best thing to do is to go to your Doctor and get that small lump checked out.  I don't want to panic you, but a hard lump, even a small one, could be cancer.  As you have already had cancer, I am sure you are aware that time is of the essence when dealing with this monstrous disease.  Please don't put it off any longer.  Make that Doctor's appointment.  It might (hopefully) turn out to be nothing of concern, but it is better to be safe than sorry isn't it?  Good luck and please let us know how you get on, xx

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

I am afraid I do not know what the lump may be or the connection between weeing and numbness in your fingertips.

I think it is best to let your team know at a follow-up if you are still under their care or speak to your GP. They will be able to assess you and decide if further investigation is needed.

Both radiotherapy and chemotherapy can have long-term effects with various symptoms, including nerve pain in fingers and feet, but it is finding out whether this is what is going on for you.

Take care and I hope you get the information you need. If you want to give the nurses a call on the helpline then ring 0808 800 4040, lines are open mon-fri 9-5.

    Sarah.
