Scarring on ovary

Hi,

I had a transvaginal scan today and the nurse asked thought I'd had an operation on my right ovary. She said there was some scarring on it.

The results will be sent to my Dr so I will have to wait but in meantime I was just wondering what she may have seen.

I'm trying not to worry but it is on my mind.

Does anyone know what looks like scarring on an ovary please?

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I appreciate this situation is worrying for you and it's natural to have questions while you wait for your results.

Scarring on the ovary can occur for a number of reasons and many of them are not serious. They tend to look like small irregularities or areas of tissue that appear different to the rest of the ovary on a scan. This could be from a previous infection, or a cyst that has healed.

But it's only your doctor who can provide you with more information once they know your results. In the meantime, try not to overly worry and take it one step at a time until you know more.

    Best wishes,

    Celene
