Ovarian cancer

I have had a total hysterectomy ( 8 weeks ago)  they found a 10cm growth on an ovary and some smaller ones on the other, I saw the consultant last Friday who said they caught it very early and is stage 1a.  Then they went on to say I had borderline  cancer. I am so confused what do I tell the insurance company

  • Hi there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about your recent surgery and appreciate the confusion about what you have been told in relation to your diagnosis.

Either way it sounds like the surgery was a success with things being caught early, which is really good news. I do hope you are recovering well.

In relation to borderline ovarian tumours which are usually made up or atypical ( abnormal) or precancerous cells or stage 1a ovarian cancer which means the cancer cells are contained within the ovary there is no real difference in the treatment needed.

In terms of your insurance company I would double check your diagnosis with your consultant to make sure you are adequately covered.

    I hope this helps

    All the best

    Naomi
