Dizzy spells

Hello, I am waiting for surgery on my parotid gland but I am now experiencing dizzy spells. I don’t know whether this is due to cancer or because I am going through the menopause?

  • Hello Gothiclady and thanks for your post,

I would let your GP know about your dizzy spells. There are any number of reasons why you may be having them. You may find that you have a low blood pressure or you may find that you have a low blood count. It is only by seeing your GP and telling them about your symptoms that they may find out what is causing them.

I can't say whether the parotid gland is causing these symptoms or the menopause but do discuss your concerns with your doctor.

Do make sure that you are getting enough sleep and you are eating well and drinking enough fluid as this can also have an effect on how someone may be feeling.

If you would like to chat any of this through with one of the helpline nurses then you are welcome to give us a ring.

Our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    All the best,

    Catherine
