Lichen sclerosis

Can anyone help me with this?  I had brachytherapy in 2008 and now realise that LS has developed. It’s taken me a while to understand what’s happening after misdiagnosis of thrush then psoriasis. I need something to read, info on how to manage etc. V grateful for any help with this. It’s ghastly.

  • Hi there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about the previous treatment you had to have and the symptoms you are now experiencing.

If you haven't done so already I suggest speaking with your own GP as they can refer you to dermatology ( skin speciality) for further assessment. A dermatologist is the best person to manage lichen sclerosus, there is more information about this on the NHS website.

I appreciate how lichen sclerosus can be very debilitating and affect someone's quality of life but with the correct ointments and creams and personal care this often can be managed.

The British Association of Dermatologists BAD also have a patient information sheet with some guidelines of the do's and don'ts, so take a look.

I hope this is helpful and that you are able to get some relief soon. You are welcome to come back to us if you have any more questions.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
