Late diagnosis

Why have I been having tests fir 12 months

  • Hi Dancing-feet and thank you for your post.

I am sorry to learn of your situation and can understand you have questions.

I am unable to properly answer your question as I am not your doctor. I would advise seeking answers from your GP or hospital specialist who have all the information.

However detecting cancer can sometimes be challenging, leading to patients being assessed by multiple oncology specialists and requiring numerous tests and scans. This unfortunately can take time.

Also, people can sometimes be diagnosed at a late stage because symptoms may not appear until the cancer has spread to other parts of the body.

Many people who are diagnosed at a late stage can live for many years with the right treatment.

I hope this information helps you understand your situation.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

     Kind regards

    Tina
