Chronic myelomonocytic leukemia

I've been diagnosed with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia and been told to just live my life

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I’m sorry you've been diagnosed with CMML (chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia)

I’m not sure what your situation is exactly but many people with CMML are monitored and do not need treatment straightaway as the condition can develop slowly.

If treatment is needed later and it works well, many people can continue to live a relatively normal life and may live for years.

But the best person to discuss this with is your specialist team as they are familiar with all your medical details. If you have a specialist nurse involved in your care then perhaps they can provide you with further information. You often have to call and leave them a message and they will get back to you.

You can read more about CMML on our website. Leukaemia Care has some further information that might be helpful.

I hope this is of some use. Give us a ring if you would like to talk things over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes,

    Celene
