Skin cancer

Hello

I went to my GP about a growth on my arm as I suspected cancer. He said it was a mole and give me some steroids cream. I was so worried I pay second opinion privately and have been told it most probably it cancer . My concern is how do I go back to my GP and tell him he may be wrong and how do I get treatment on the NHS as I can’t afford to pay privately.
Any advice would be appreciated

regards

  • Hi there and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear you saw a private doctor who suspected you have a type of skin cancer. Of course this now needs further investigation and a referral to a skin specialist.

Whilst I appreciate approaching your NHS Gp may feel a little uneasy, this only way to get the tests and any treatment needed is through the GP. If there is a different GP at the practice then I would suggest asking to speak with them.

You can say I went and had a second opinion as I was concerned and the doctor in their opinion think this could be something more sinister.

I hope you can get an appointment soon and that it goes well and that you know more about your situation soon.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
