  • Hi there and thanks for posting

I am very sorry to hear about your dad, this must be a very difficult time for the family

Unfortunately without being directly involved in your dads care it is difficult for us to give a prognosis. This is something better answered by the doctors and nurses involved in your dad's care, so do ask them when you next see them.

Prognosis is usually given based on other people who have been in a similar situation as well as the persons general health.

Sadly pancreatic cancer is often diagnosed at a late stage and if a person is unable to have any treatment the time can be very short, often meaning weeks or a couple of months.

As I say do speak with the health professionals involved as they will be able to give a better idea of timing. Also if your dad continues to deteriorate and becomes less mobile alongside eating and drinking less these can be signs someone is nearing the end. There is more information about this on the last few weeks and days pages of the website.

I hope you and your dad have lots of support around you at this time but do ask for further help if you need it.

Take care of yourself and do get back in touch if needed, alternatively give one of the nurses a call on 0808 800 4040, we're here weekdays 9-5.

    All the best

    Naomi
