Confused

I had two mammograms an ultra sound two weeks ago with a core biopsy where two titanium tags were inserted.

I was then taken to the quiet room to provide details of next of kin and told the oncologist would be in touch to discuss radiotherapy, chemotherapy. All before the tissue had been sent for analysis.

I now have notification of my next appointment with what to expect, This includes all the tests I have already undergone with no mention of me seeing the consultant or obtaining the results.

Please help. I really don't understand what us happening.

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I am very sorry to hear you are undergoing tests at the moment and appreciate what an anxious time this must be.

From what you have said it seems the images taken from the mammogram and ultrasound were highly suspicious for cancer, which is why they discussed the possibility of treatment as well as inserting the metal clips.

Unfortunately we can't comment on the recent letter you have had inviting you for the same tests so suggest you call the breast clinic to ask them about this.

It may be sent in error instead of an appointment with the consultant to discuss the biopsy results and what needs to happen next.

I hope you have some support around you at this time and that you find out more very soon.

We are here if you have more questions or if you would prefer to speak to someone on the phone our number is 0808 800 4040 and we're here weekdays 9-5.

    Take care

    Naomi

  • Thank you. All the communications came in the wrong order. I get the results next week. The lump is on the upper outer quadrant and is 30mm

    No lumps detected in armpit.

    Hopefully will know more soon.

All the possible treatments seem so brutal.
