Should I be worried?    Also had ct scan which said would take 45 mins he was out in 15 and they said consultant would have results by Monday I’m petri ed something wrong

  • Hi Dwautos and thank you for your post.

I am sorry to learn that your husband is having symptoms that are causing you concern.

Swollen feet and ankles can be a side effect of chemotherapy treatment.

The swelling typically subsides once treatment is completed. There are several ways to manage the swelling.

If you feel the swelling is not improving then you might like to inform your nurse specialist or hospital specialist.

I wouldn’t look too much into the length of time of the CT scan or when the report is sent to the consultant.

Forty-five minutes is an average time given to take into account individuals with disabilities who may need more time when getting on or off the table.

It typically takes just a couple of days for the consultant to receive the report, and it's common for radiologists to inform patients about this. However, the report needs to be reviewed at a multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting before the consultant can discuss the results with you and your husband; irrespective of what the scan has found.

I hope you know more soon and that everything will be okay.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
