After a transvaginal scan my womb was found to be 24mm with cystic elements so whilst having biopsies taken which I'm still waiting to hear back about I had the Mirena coil fitted, 7 days later I started bleeding and now I'm bleeding very heavy with very painful cramps. I've gone through 18 pads in 24 hours. I'm 46 and believed I was 2 years post menopause but I'm questioning if I actually have endometrial hyperplasia and that's what caused my periods to stop. 

I'm just questioning if this amount of pain and bleeding is normal, I've tried to call the hospital I had the coil fitted at but it's an answering machine that states it could take 7 days for a call back, my Drs have no appointments until next week so not sure if I should call 111?
