Swollen glands in neck

Good afternoon - I am late 60's & finished phase 1 of treatment for follicular lymphoma in mid-November (8 cycles of immunotherapy & chemo) and felt generally OK, a few side effects like peripheral neuropathy but all in all nothing too bad.

In the last few weeks (4+ weeks after the end of treatment) I have experienced swollen glands in my neck & throat & jaw line, the first ones that came up have now gone down, more recent ones are still enlarged, slightly painful, like a mild toothache. I have no problem breathing or swallowing. Is this to be expected after treatment or am I possibly fighting an infection? I am due to see my consultant in the New Year but thought I would like to "chat" to someone before then...

Thank you

  • Hi there and thanks for the post

I am sorry to hear about the treatment you had earlier this year but it is good to hear you tolerated it well.

As some of the lymph nodes have come up and gone down suggests it is probably an infection you have been fighting off but if persisting or getting worse do let your doctor know sooner than later.

I don't know if you have had recent blood tests carried out but it may be an idea to have these checked to make sure your counts are all okay.

I hope this helps and wish you all the best

    Naomi
