  • Hi Misscathcart,

A very warm welcome to our forum. You do not say what part of your friend's body is being biopsied. With breast cancer most lumps tend to be painless, but a biopsy is needed to determine whether the lump is benign or malignant. She will probably have to wait 1-2 weeks to get the results of her biopsy. This is always a very anxious time and any support you can give her will be welcome.

Please keep in touch and let us know the outcome. We are always here for both of you.

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you Jolamine.

There lump is in the lower part of her breast and is quite squishy and not attached to anything.

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I can appreciate your question. Sometimes a biopsy is necessary in order to get more information about the lump, by examining a sample of cells from that area. It is important to keep an open mind about this, until more results are known.

    I hope that this helps,

    Best wishes.

  • Hi Misscathcart,

I am not a doctor, but as far as I understand, it is good to hear that your friend's lump is quite squishy and doesn't seem to be attached. The ones that are more concerning tend to be irregular in shape, hard and fixed. Having said this, it sounds as if her care team are playing cautious and examining her tissue to make sure. This has to be reassuring for her, as she would always wonder otherwise.

Please keep in touch and let us know how she gets on. We are always here for both of you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
