The CA 125 blood test is used to gain more clinical information, and it can be elevated in various gynaecological conditions. However, it is not reliable as a stand alone cancer diagnostic blood test. It can be normal when cancer is present, (false negative). Therefore it is used alongside other investigations, such as scans and biopsies.
