2 week wait ct scan focusing on pancreas

I’m not certain it’s my pancreas that’s the problem.
I’ve had problems with my backend for the last 18 months.
intermittent bleeding sometimes the bowl would be filled with blood. Of late, I’ve noticed blood in my stools or on them, again intermittently.
ive had a sigmoidoscopy where a polyp was removed.
Then a colonoscopy. Another sigmoidoscopy. A ct scan of my small intestines. Nothing. My dr said it’s most likely haemorrhoids.
im waiting to see a colorectal dr. I flic flac between constipation and loose stools which can be really large ( bigger than they’ve ever been) or really small bits that are never ending ( I can go usually 6 times a day now) Sometimes I bleed on the tissue.

It’s worth mentioning I suffer with fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis.
I have done for over 20 years. I’m 54.

I recently had a lot of blood work done, because I’ve had a lot of symptoms that I can’t account for.
Breathlessness, chest tightness at night. Severe pain in the back of my hips when walking. Itching-it used to drive me crazy at night-now I take antihistamines. Fever at night -usually 37.5 but can rise to 38 or over sometimes. Acid reflux which I’ve never suffered from in my whole life. I don’t really have much of an appetite. frequent headaches also bleeding gums-sores that come and go inside my mouth.

about the bloods-three things stood out.
ca 19.9 Antigen 45 ku/L

serum lactate dehydrogenase level 334 U/L

Platelet count 42 P

im due to have a repeat of my full blood count on the 31st December and I’m not sure what else they might test for yet. The receptionist didn’t know so I’ll find out on the day.

i didn’t know the dr who referred me for the scan- I’m not sure he was quite familiar with my history. I went back to see him today because I felt so worried. He said most likely the scan would be clear. He seemed completely unphased by the rise in 19.9.
he was unconcerned by the high ldh level. He didn’t explain the low platelets.
I have driven myself crazy with dr Google. I can reach no conclusion myself because I’m not a medical professional!!
So for now-I have stopped.
I asked him was I overreacting he said no.
I left feeling a bit confused
I am to ring the hospital if they have nt contacted me by the 2nd of  Jan.

please, please can u help me in this at all.

  • I forgot to say-I’m female-always have been.

  • Hello and thank you for posting,

I am sorry to learn that you are having symptoms that are causing you concern.

Waiting for tests and test results can be an anxious and stressful time. I am afraid it is only a doctor who can assess and refer you for any necessary tests can say what the cause may be. Unfortunately not being doctors or being involved in your care we cannot diagnose you or provide a medical opinion.

It is good that you have stopped looking on the internet as it cannot tell you what is causing your symptoms and it can also heighten anxiety.

I hope you do not have to wait too long to see the colorectal specialist and that you get some explanation soon.

In the meantime, if you would like to speak with one of our nurses on the helpline, the freephone number to call is 0808 800 4040 and we are available between 9 am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care

    Jemma
