sentinal removal

I have had sentinal removal and one had cancer cells and the other was tissue what does this mean ?

  • Hello and thank you for posting,

Node removal is done to check for cancer cells that may have traveled from the original lump. Your doctor will explain that, depending on what is found, they will adjust your treatment plan.

When the doctors remove the nodes they also remove the surroundings of the nodes. This is generally known throughout the body as tissue.

The doctor, or your breast care nurse, will go through these results with you in more detail. So do write down any questions you have for them.

Take care and if you want to talk things through with the nurses then call freephone 0808 800 4040. Lines are open mon-fri 9-5.

    Sarah.
