Taking a break.

I'm 6 treatments through my chemotherapy and the only real symptoms I'm having is irritating itchy Acne which covers most of my body and chronic mouth ulcers which is making swallowing and chewing a nightmare.  Any way my consultant has asked to take break from the treatment 7 days to be precise,  which I find really weird as the markers in my bloods only just last week showed real promising on going results, in her colleagues words its" like some body has turned your past results upside down" , anyway after discussion with her senior  they both feel it would be beneficial to have a break.

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

Sometimes doctors may give patients a break, or reduce a dose if they feel that the side effects are becoming a bit much. You must continue to eat and drink throughout your treatment, and if you are struggling at times to swallow they may be worried.

If helpful we have information on mouth problems on our website.

The treatment will start again once the doctors feel your symptoms have improved.

If you remain concerned about this break then do talk to someone in your hospital team, as they know you and your cancer.

Take care, and if you want to chat with the nurses on the helpline the number is 0808 800 4040. Lines open mon-fri, 9-5.

    Sarah.
