Testicle lump

I'm a man of 36.

3 weeks ago I noticed  a small painless lump on my left testicle and have been getting some discomfort on both testicle.

I went to my GP again he has referred me for an ultrasound which could take up to 19 weeks to get he said there's nothing to worry about as he thinks it is eppipdymitis.

I have had that before, but something doesn't feel right down there ,I'm getting terrible pains in my right groin and feels like I'm dragging something if that makes sense.

I went back to my GP but he said he couldnt feel it, I have showed my wife and she can feel it now there.

I don't know what to do next eg would going for a private ultrasound be the best option or should I go.back to my GP.

  • If funds allow maybe get a private ultrasound.  They aren't too costly and the results will be very quick, but don't cancel the referral already made.

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

I am sorry you have these concerns about a testicular lump.

If the GP was concerned they would have asked for an urgent USS, but it does sound as if the doctor feels this is a repeat of your previous epididymitis diagnosis.

If you remain concerned or feel that the symptoms have changed then do let the doctor know and make them aware of the waiting list.

You can also let the ultrasound department know you are worried and are happy to take any last-minute cancellations.

Take care and if you want to chat with the nurses on the helpline the number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040, and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Sarah.
