Small Rant + I need advice

Hello.

I would like to say how sometimes these doctors are a pain in the ***. I am sorry, I respect them so much, but sometimes, I question what they're doing. You see, I've been feeling a lot of pain on my left breast, which now looks notably larger than my right breast, for nearly a month. This was much before my period too, which was very random and if I had to rate this pain, it's solid 8. I can barely sleep and concentrate in class because of the pain. I went to the GP to get my breasts checked, and they just told me it was hormones going up and down my body, so, my breasts will be much tender. I was given some pain relief gel for my breasts, which did NOTHING at all because tell my why the pain just got worse??! I have to put that gel on 3 times day, and it does nothing. Keep in my I also take paracetamol in the morning and night which also did and does nothing. Right, then, today, I went to the children's emergency because the pain was unbearable. I went, sat, got checked by a few nurses before being sent to somewhere else near the CE. Waited for a good hour, finally got a doctor, explained everything. They checked my breasts again, they asked me where the pain is, the pain was relatively on and near my left breast. They focused on the fact the pain was MORE near my left breast, NOT ON, WHEN CLEARLY I WAS LITERALLY GROANING IN PAIN SEVERELY! Guys, they just told me...forget about it, have some strong pain killers and it was time for me to leave. I am so confused. What do I do now? The pain is unbearable.

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry you are experiencing severe breast pain. This must be a difficult time for you.

There are many causes of breast pain which you can read about on Breast Cancer Now's website.

If the pain isn't settling with the painkillers you've been prescribed I would suggest you speak to your GP again and see what they have to say. I can't be sure but they may decide to refer you to the breast unit for further assessment.

I hope the pain improves soon. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes,

    Celene
