Apsn

This is my story so far I’m 37 have four beautiful babies ages 17,16,7 and 4…
So I had my daughter in July 2020.. so a few months after giving birth my periods got really heavy and irregular so I asked to be sterilised hoping this would help with the bleeding I then had a smear January 2023 before I heard anything about being sterilised and it came back I had high grade dyskaryosis (severe) cin3 and hpv so I had the Loop diathermy biopsy and had most of my cervix burnt away as a lot of it was precancerous cells! They heavy bleeding continued so in the November 2023 I had a hysteroscopy + endometrial biopsy + sterilisation… February 2024 I found out the biopsy’s came back I had APSN which is very rare my hospital hadn’t seen a case in over 20 years was having four monthly checks and medication to control the bleeding which didn’t help just been getting worse and worse bleeding heavy clots for six weeks at a time so this Saturday just gone I went in for a hysteroscopy + endometrial biopsy and a endometrial ablation which is were they burn the lining of the womb away so stop the bleeding. I went down and when I came out the surgeon came to see me they had taken three biopsy’s could not go through with the Ablation there was significant amount of bleeding in my endometrium looked very nodular so has sent the biopsy’s as a 31/62 and wanted me back in four weeks after histology and mit meeting for an emergency LAHV+ bilateral salpingectomy and that’s were I am up to I have an appointment for the 13th January very anxious… does the biopsy being sent as a 31/62 mean that the nodules have turned from being benign to malignant?

  • Hi and thank you for posting,

I am sorry to learn of your situation, I can imagine this is a stressful and anxious time for you. It sounds like you have been through a lot.

As Cancer Information Nurses not involved in your care, we cannot say if this means the nodules are thought to be malignant (cancer). Only your team who knows your situation can say why they sent the biopsy urgently.

However, it is only the biopsy, where the cells are looked at closely under the microscope that will be able to say for certain if there are malignant cells.

I wondered if there was a specialist nurse (CNS) you could speak with or whether you could get in contact at all with the consultant through their secretary.

I am sorry I cannot be more helpful on this occasion. If you would like to talk things through with one of our nurses, you would be welcome to call our helpline. We are available Monday to Friday 9 am - 5pm and the number to call is 0808 800 4040

    Take care,

    Jemma
