endometrial cancer

Having my op on Monday , does peppermint tea make a difference after the op? should I take finer gel bea couple of days before. Any advice please. Am in fragmin  .

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

We don't have any specific advice about tea or diet/supplements before surgery. Just aim to have a balanced healthy diet beforehand, and reduce alcohol, and/or smoking if this is applicable.

Your hospital team would advise you of anything important, and will tell you about your fragmin beforehand. If you haven't heard yet regarding this, then do ring the hospital team and ask them.

We have information on our website about before your surgery which may be helpful.

I hope that is goes well for you,

    Best wishes,

    Vanda

  • Thank you yes I have all that information and have followed all medical advice I eat healthily , have always exercised . Endometrial cancer has come totally out of the blue and I’ve had wonderful treatment and am so grateful. I am absolutely  terrified of the operation. The surgeon will take two cardinal lymph nodes for biopsy , perform a total hysterectomy and if necessary take any cancerous lymph nones. I am grade 1a stage 2 so I know in that respect I am lucky. But i’m so scared and advice anyone could give would really help. Thank you

  • Hello Katie and thank you for getting back to us. I am sorry to hear that you are feeling terrified by your diagnosis and approaching surgery.

I hope you have support or friends and or family who you can talk this through, and good to talk to your hospital team too.

There is information on this page of our website that goes through that period before treatment, in your case surgery, happens. Also, it might be good to post on our 'Living with cancer' thread to hear from others who have gone through similar. Although everyone's story is very individual to them, it can be comforting to hear from others who have had your surgery.

The Eve Appeal is the UK gynecological cancer charity, they may also be useful to you at this time.

Waiting and uncertainty are difficult, but taking each day, sharing your concerns, and focusing on your physical, mental, and emotional preparation for the next few months ahead will help you.

Take care and do call us if helpful. The number to is Freephone 0808 800 4040, and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Sarah.
