Hello and thanks for your post,
I am sorry to hear that you have had a mastectomy. I would get in touch with your breast care nurse at the hospital. As you have only recently had the surgery you are probably still under their care.
It is difficult to give an opinion without being directly involved in your care.
Try not to over think it for now.
They may suggest that you come in to be examined.
I hope this helps.
If you would like to get back to us or give us a ring then you are welcome to do so. The nurses are here Monday to Friday 9-5 and the Freephone number is 0808 800 4040
All the best,
Catherine
Ok Thankyou very much I’ll do that Catherine x
Getting a scan as to rule everything out
HI Rosecottage,
I am sorry to hear that you are worried about a lump following your mastectomy and I am glad to hear that you are getting a scan to rule out anything untoward. I have had 2 bouts of pure mucinous breast cancer and have had a lumpectomy, followed by a double mastectomy, the following year. There have been times since my surgeries, when I have felt a lump. On some occasions, these were due to scar tissue, but it turned out to be pre-cancerous tissue once and a new primary on another occasion. I am mow 14 years down the line since surgery and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life.
It is really impossible to tell yourself, so you are doing the right thing by getting this investigated. I sincerely hope that it all turns out to be ok. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
