Hello and thank you for your post,
After breast surgery follow the advice from the team treating you about your dressing and wound as well as any exercises you need to do. Report any signs of infection such as a more swollen, more painful breast and any new bleeding or oozing from the wound site. You will also be advised about not lifting things on the side you had surgery
There is no specific diet recommended except to say that eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as some protein can help. Drink plenty of fluid. There are no particular foods to avoid. Get some rest but also keep active as much as you can.
We have information about life after breast surgery (right-click) on our website, it might be helpful to read it.
Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Take care,
Caroline
