What happens to cervical cancer patients that have been discharged? I was very relieved to complete my fifth year surveillance. However, it is now is two years on and there has been no follow up. Is this normal?
Thank you

Hello and thanks for posting
The way women are followed up after treatment for cervical cancer is individualised and can vary depending on the circumstances. Our website explains this in more detail.
As you will see in the above link patients are usually monitored for up to 3 or 5 years as part of their follow up care ( surveillance).
Once this period is over and if everything has been clear, many patients are discharged back to routine care with their GP. This is because the risk of recurrence reduces over this period of time.
You may find it helpful to contact your GP or specialist team about this. Hopefully, they can clarify your individual situation for you. If you had access to a specialist nurse (CNS) involved in your care then perhaps they may provide you with further information. You often have to call and leave them a message and they will get back to you.
I hope this helps. Give us a ring if you would like to talk things through. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Best wishes,
Celene
