I’m really worried about the lump in my breast

Hi

I am really stressed. I missed two appointments for a lump in my breast, I’m really stupid but was scared.

I went back to my GP and had an appointment yday. The hospital cancelled my appointment yday and now don’t know when it will be.

The lump is getting bigger and really hurts. Not sure what to do?

I’m 38 and blaming myself for being overweight. I’m getting stressed out big time

  • Hi Bea86 and thank you for posting,

I am sorry to learn you are having symptoms that are causing you concern. Hopefully, the hospital will get back in touch with you soon to make a new appointment. If your GP has referred you in urgently, they should arrange this as quickly as possible. If you do not hear from your hospital in the next few days it is worth contacting them again or seeing if your GP can chase them on your behalf.

It can be a stressful and scary time waiting for hospital appointments, tests, and results. It might be worth knowing that the majority of breast lumps turn out not to be cancer and are very common.

There can be many noncancerous reasons for breast lumps such as cysts or fibroadenoma. It is also worth knowing that pain is not a common symptom of breast cancer and can often be part of a woman's natural menstrual cycle. However, it is important to go to the appointment to make sure it is nothing serious and to see what can be done to help with the symptoms you are experiencing.

Take care, I hope you do not have to wait too long for your next appointment.

    Jemma
