Hi EadieB24, sorry to hear that your mum has needed treatment for breast cancer. I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma in January, had chemo, surgery and due to start radiotherapy next week. I am unable to answer your question, as I didn't realise there were different types of radiotherapy. I hope you don't mind me jumping onto your thread, but I am interested in  any responses you get, as I have grandchildren. I went last week to my pre radiotherapy appointment and nothing was mentioned about this. I wish your mum well moving forward. Xx

I am sorry to hear your Mum is  going through breast cancer treatment. I can appreciate this must be a difficult time for you both.

Your mother will have  an appointment to meet with the radiotherapy specialists, who will discuss the plan for her treatment. This will be a good opportunity to ask any questions.

Most radiotherapy for breast cancer is administered externally, similar to an X-ray. There should be no risk of harm to others or children during this process or afterwards.
