Blood spotting from vagina

Quite a long story, my hubbie had bowel cancer and then liver mets.  I have been diagnosed with vaginal atrophy.  Ive since been diagnosed last week with high blood pressure and put on Amlodipine.  I am suffering constipation and Ive just been to the toilet and I am spotting blood from my vagina.  I am in such a panic I am so scared I dont know what to do.  Im struggling with the bp meds side effects and now this, I cant cope.  So scared of the big C coming back into our family.

  • Hi there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about your hubbie and appreciate how your current symptoms are now panicking you. Please try not to over think things for now if you can.

Symptoms can be caused by lots of things including the bleeding you have just had. If you are constipated and strain this can cause bleeding as well as the vaginal atrophy or even the change in medications can cause bleeding sometimes.

For your peace of mind I think it is best for you to arrange an appointment with your GP to discuss this further and to see if they wish to carry out any tests, just to be on the safe side.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care

    Naomi
