Duodenum Cancer secondary to Colon

Husband diagnosed with Colon Cancer treatment was surgery then offered but not advised to have Chemo as they believed they had got all the cancer, no lymph nodes impacted and chemo considered to have very marginal potential benefits. No further treatment. 6 months later received the news it's spread to duodenum. They won't operate as they are not sure that will kill/get all the cancer and very risky operation. Question is what are the other treatment options we should explore?

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry to read about your husband's situation. This must be an incredibly difficult time for you both.

As a team of information nurses, we do not recommend treatment as we are not involved in your husband's clinical care.  We always suggest patients discuss the best treatment options available with their specialist team. If your husband has a bowel specialist nurse involved in his care then perhaps they can provide him with further information. You often have to call and leave them a message and they will get back to him.

We have information on our website on how bowel cancer may be treated when it comes back.

I hope this is of some help. Give us a ring if you would like to talk things over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
