Hello, and thanks for posting,
I can appreciate that you would want to find out more.
We have information about lung cancer staging on our website which will explain further. We also have section on small cell lung cancer treatments
There is also good information on the Roy Castle Lung Foundation website
Surgery is offered when the cancer is small and has not spread elsewhere. Alternatives used are also chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Treatment for lung cancer can be successful when it is diagnosed at an earlier stage. Your Dad should have access to a lung cancer specialist nurse (CNS) at the hospital. They are there to support the patient through diagnosis and treatments, and help answer any questions about their care.
I hope this helps,
Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Yours sincerely,
Vanda
