Nipple that stings

I had breast cancer in2017 for which I had a lumpectomy on my right breast. The cancer was all removed and I followed up with radio therapy. I have just discovered that the nipple on that side really stings when I touch it. Prior to this I have found tiny crystals on its surface. Do I need to see someone?

  • Hi Bonny, and thanks for posting.

Always best to get changes checked out so you can be properly reviewed.

It isn't unusual for nerves to cause unusual sensations after surgery on an area, but good to let a doctor know what you have noticed.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Sarah.
