Worried about Ovarian Cancer

My sister died having had Ovarian Cancer and I'm now approaching the age (57) when she was diagnosed. I've also recently had breast cancer. I get frequent bloating and  im peeing more often, bowel habit changed a but, but these symptoms aren't constant they come and go. But I'm definitely bloating a few days every week.

I had my ca125 checked 2 years ago due to these symptoms and it was normal. I thunk I'm probably being over anxious but should  I go back to GP?

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I can appreciate your concern. If you are worried, then do make an appointment to see your GP, who can assess you and advise further. They can order a repeat CA125 blood test to check things out for you. Symptoms such as yours are not exclusive to cancer as you know, and are often seen in women experiencing hormone fluctuations, such as those seen in menopause for example. Sometimes medications can cause symptom side effects.

Bowel irritation from food intolerances can also cause bloating. It might be handy to keep a food diary, just to see if there are any trigger foods making episodes worse. So, whilst it is of course sensible to go and get checked out by your GP, do keep an open mind on this, for other possible explanations.

    I hope this helps,
