Test results

I posted in another section, but didnt get a response so thought might be more appropriate here with a bit more information.

Last 2 months of so wife has had some bloating to her abdomen area and weight has bee consistent if not gone up.

Also had some other occasional symptoms, high heart rate at night and not being able to sleep (only occasional).

Sometimes passed clots in period, though no real heavy bleeding.

We went to the GP last week who ordered a series of tests and and pelvic/abdominal ultrasound. The US was originally rejected by the hospital.

Blood results came back and CA125 was 49

Liver ALP was 170

Liver ALT was 70

We got the ultrasound booked in for thr 20th, but im going private instead tomorrow as i feel 3 weeks is too long to wait

Just wondering what these symptoms may be a sign of....GP did agree to a followup and said they would discuss any medication after the scan. Is this routine or does that mean they feel it may be cancer and the discussion post scan is likely to be onwards referral?

Thanks

B

  • Hi B and thank you for posting,

I am sorry to learn that your wife is having symptoms that are causing concern, this must be a worrying time.

We cannot say what the cause of your wife's symptoms might be, only a doctor who can assess her can tell. There may be several causes that are not necessarily cancer. Unfortunately, until you have the results of the tests no one can say.

Having a follow-up with the GP is a good idea, as they will hopefully be able to clarify what your wife's situation is and whether or not she needs to be on medication.  I wouldn't read anything into this, often GPs do follow up after scans and various tests not necessarily because they think someone may have cancer.

I hope you can get some answers soon.  Please feel free to get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Jemma
