my mum has a mammogram and they found a lump, they did 3 biopsies and she’s been waiting over 2 weeks for the results, should we be concerned and when will we likely to hear back?
thank you

Hello and thanks for posting
Unfortunately, there is a NHS backlog causing delays in processing laboratory results, so this is not unusual at the moment. I'm afraid we can't tell you exactly how long your mum will have to wait to get her biopsy results as there will be some regional variations in different NHS Trusts.
But, if you don't hear anything by next week, your mum can ask her GP to enquire, or ring the specialist/consultant secretary.
You ask if you need to be concerned about your mum's breast lump. The majority of breast lumps are nothing to be worried out but until your mum gets her results no one can tell you anymore for now.
I hope everything turns out to be okay. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
Kind regards,
Celene
