My friend has been suffering with fatigue for the longest time, she is awaiting a liver biopsy, her billirubin is 52 and her ictor told her it should be 20.
Should she go to accident and emergency to escalate the biopsy?
Many thanks

Hello and thank you for posting,
I am sorry to hear that your friend is having a lot of fatigue and is waiting to have a biopsy on her liver, this must be a difficult time.
Unfortunately going to Accident and Emergency (A and E) will not speed up the process of her having the biopsy.
Your friend will have been referred on a specific pathway to a particular speciality, such as gastroenterology. How quickly she has her biopsy will depend on how urgently the referral has been made. If the doctor is concerned that she may have cancer, they will refer her urgently.
While I am sure your friend's situation does feel urgent, A and E is for serious injuries and life-threatening emergencies. However, if your friend was to suddenly become very unwell, for example, she has a lot of pain, then she can call 111 for advice or go straight to A & E .
I hope you friend has her biopsy soon,
Take care
Jemma
Thankyou, i will pass this on
