  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry to read about your father's situation. This must be an incredibly difficult time for you all.

It's important that your father gets all the information he needs to make a decision on his care and possible treatment that feels right for him. The following questions may be helpful to ask his consultant:

Are there any treatments to slow the cancer spread or manage symptoms?

If so, what are the benefits and disadvantages of the treatment options?

What can be expected if he chooses not to undergo treatment?

How will the cancer impact his daily life and activities?

What signs or symptoms should we should look out for as the cancer progresses further?

If he has a palliative care team or Macmillan nurse involved in his care, what support can they offer?

Will the palliative care team advise on symptoms?

Are there services available for home care to support the family?

I hope this is of some help. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
