Constipation and increased morphine dosage with advanced GBC

Hello, we’ve recently increased my Dads morphine to 20mg morphine capsules to help with pain (mostly more uncomfortable at night) the last 2days he has had a sharp pain & constipation for the last 2 days. Are we doing anything wrong or is this quite normal when increasing morphine? We have just increased Laxido sachets to 2x a day from today.

    I am sorry to hear about your dad and the increased pain and constipation he is having.

    Increasing the morphine dose can constipate a patient but the laxitives should help with this. However we would also suggest speaking with the doctor or nurse involved in your dads care to make them aware in case they wish to assess him to make sure nothing else is going on.
